She’s a girl that likes to sing
She is alluring, she is Aotearoa’s queen of soul and RnB.
She is Aaradhna!

And come Saturday 27th of January, she’ll be performing at NGAPUHI FESTIVAL 2018!!!

27 things you probably didn’t know about Aaradhna:
1) Her full name is Aaradhna Jayantilal Patel
2) She is of Samoan and Indian descent
3) She was born in Porirua, Wellington on December 20, 1983
4) She is the eldest of five children
5) She would often accompany her Dad to Bollywood movies and watch him perform in festivals
6) She would join her mum signing traditional Samoan gospel at Church
7) After getting kicked out of her choir at Porirua College, she formed a girl band called Lovera
8) Her earliest musical memory in the bath singing “Shaddap your face” by Joe Dolce with her mother
9) Her earliest music inspiration was The Beatles – Anthology 1 Album
10) She used to beatbox at school
11) She started writing songs at age 11
12) At 13, she entered her first talent quest and got through to the finals
13) She used to record tracks on her family answer machine
14) Her big break came when she signed with Dawn Raid Entertainment after meeting Brotha-D while her aunty was braiding his hair in her Nana’s kitchen
15) Her big debut was with Adeaze in 2004 featuring on their song ‘Stronger’
16) After being rejected by the American market in her early days she now holds a multi-million dollar contract with a renowned US record label
17) She loves rap and country music
18) She spent eight months living in Romania with her partner who plays for the NZ Breakers
19) She loves horror movies & ghost stories
20) The tattoos on her hands are real and were inked by well-known tattooist to Kiwi celebrities and sports stars, Andy Tauafiafi
21) Her favourite food is pasta
22) She has battled depression and been victim to racial discrimination
23) Her song ‘Devils Living In The Shadow’, initially came from nightmares as a child but is also about dealing with depression and a mother with schitzophrenia
24) She sometimes dreams about music and wakes herself up and records on her phone
25) She drinks red wine to calm her nerves before a show
26) If she could sing with anyone it would be Sam Cooke
27) She’s looking forward to performing at Festival next year… and we can’t wait!
